Ahh sleep, something everyone absolutely loves but doesn’t have enough of it. Do you how much sleep is it recommended we get every day? 4 hours? 6 hours? It is recommended we get 8 hours of sleep every day. But do you really get 8 hours of sleep every day? I know I certainly don’t as I have work to do or I have to study for an exam or a test. But usually when you’re fully awake at night you know you should sleep but you instead want to watch a movie, go on Youtube or Facebook. Something I do a lot!! The next day where I’ve received not much sleep I would always say “OK TONIGHT YOU ARE SLEEPING EARLY” but do I? Probably once every ten nights ill sleep early or have an adequate amount.
For me the least amount of sleep I need to function for the day is probably around 6 hours that is pretty high but I’m a person who needs a lot of sleep. But if I get a day where I am able to sleep the whole day like a public holiday (Thank you Queen’s Birthday on Monday in Australia :P) it lowers the amount of sleep I need to function throughout the day.
But bear in mind I am not a person who drinks coffee or energy drinks. I don’t have a daily morning coffee to wake me up or an energy drink like Red bull to start the day off. If I am really sleepy then I would take a nice hot shower first thing in the morning but that’s about it on how I try and stay awake.
Anyway this was a short quick blog about my thoughts on sleep. And since I have a free day tomorrow guess who’s going to be sleeping in :D?
So how much sleep do you AT LEAST need to be able to function throughout the day?
The coffee looks amazing!

Whats the least I need? 4 hours I guess.
ReplyDeleteI tend to function completely fine on 5-6 hours. Going to try Polyphasic sleep this summer though :]
ReplyDelete10-12 hours for me
ReplyDeleteI'm able to function with two hours of sleep, but I have to catch up eventually.
ReplyDeleteAbout 4 I'd say, that's really good that you stay off energy drinks and coffee, that stuffs pretty gross
ReplyDeleteI need about 3 minimum I'd say, I can go a whole week on 3-4 hours a night then I'll have one night where I'll sleep for about 9 straight. Works for me :) ...well not in the mornings :P
ReplyDeleteI know how to make the leaf in my lattes I learned it to impress the ladies ;)
ReplyDeletelol slycoopert nice....
ReplyDeleteim gonna get some coffee now..
ReplyDeleteim half asleep now....followed
ReplyDelete6 hours or else I'm a zombie
ReplyDeletereally , just 8 ? i read somewhere that it's 12 for ppl till 18, 10 till you're 30 and from there 8
ReplyDeleteI usually get somewhere between 6 and 8 hours of sleep so guess that's not too bad :).
ReplyDelete5 is enough for me. I sleep little but I am fully awake in the morning. :D
ReplyDeleteAbout 12 hours for me, now that im done with school i should finally be able to get that amount
ReplyDelete6 is a good number. Sometimes I can run on 4 and under but usually i'm little weird those days due to the sleep deprivation.
ReplyDeletei think 7 hours for me.
ReplyDelete6-8 hours + power-napping 20-50min.
ReplyDeleteI think it's 10 hours that is suggested for teenagers, 8 for mid life and 6 for elderly. Which is strange a little, but slightly understandable.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I can function with 4~6, but I prefer 8~10, (; Don't we all?
I used to get 4 hours of sleep on the weekends that I worked. I had to open at 5 but I couldn't force by self to get in the bed early. shit sucked bro.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I've learned to run on 4-6 hours of sleep. I know I should be getting more but what are you to do?
ReplyDeleteI actually do get 8 or close to it most nights. I find that actually 7:15 to 7:30 of sleep will leave me sufficiently refreshed. There is nothing better than the feeling of getting a "full" night's sleep. I didn't for years because I thought I didn't need it. I'm a much happier person now that I do.

ReplyDeleteI say at least 4 hours, optimal for me are 8 hours of sleep a day!
ReplyDeleteGreetings,

8 hours is crazy, i'd guess most people get six hours at best, i know i average about 5 a night. guess we should all head to bed.
ReplyDeleteno matter how much sleep i get im always tired
ReplyDeleteI really need 8, and to go to bed early. If I sleep from 2 am until 10 I'm tired as hell.
ReplyDeleteBut 10-6 and I feel great!
6-7 hours
ReplyDeleteUsually i grab about 6 hours depending on how late i stay up. Doesnt really matter because I always wake up at the same time which is a good habit or a bad one depending on how you look at it

If I dont have a schedule to follow, I tend to stay up for around 24 hours and then sleep for 12, I'm just weird like that
ReplyDeleteIf uninterrupted, with nothing to do, and windows closed I sleep for 12 hours without issue. The slightest sound, beam of light, or movement will wake me up though.
ReplyDeleteIt's very annoying.
I absolutely hate sleep. I wish humans didn't have to sleep.
Have you heard of sleep inertia? I get that ALL THE TIME. If I need to shake it off, I drink some coffee or an energy drink. Otherwise I go without.
My grade 7 teacher was an ex army captain or something. It was cool because he had all this old army memorabilia around the classroom which made the other classes jelly. But i remember at school camp me and some other guys were being idiots and it was late and he made us all stand in a line until 2am saying "soldiers only need 5.5 hours sleep per night to function normally each day" and i haven't forgotten that to this day.
ReplyDeletePersonally, i get about 3 or 4 hours sleep per night for about 5 nights straight and then i burn out and sleep for about 16 hours and start the cycle again. Works for me :)
Cool pictures.
